Analysis of The Cherry Trees by Edward Thomas
This poem was written in the late spring or early summer of 1916, possibly as a recollection of the sights which Edward Thomas might well have witnessed on one of his many solitary walks that he used to take in the countryside around his home at Steep, near Petersfield in Hampshire. Thomas, at the time of writing, had recently been granted leave from Hare Hall, at Gidea Park in Essex, where he had been acting as a map-reading instructor.
