Analysis of In Memoriam (Easter 1915) by Edward Thomas
This poem was written on April 6th 1915, just a few months before Edward Thomas decided to enlist in the Artist’s Rifles, which he did in July, at the age of 37. Thomas had spent months deliberating over what he should do: he had a wife and three young children, who were dependent upon him; but he also felt a sense of duty and responsibility towards his country.
